This is a project thread for the
2022 Permaculture Technology Jamboree at Wheaton Labs.

Build a Robust Apothecary Project

We'll be making infused oils and vinegars, salves, and tinctures while exploring the area collecting and drying lots of local native and naturalized medicinal plants for future use as water infusions, decoctions, and poultices.

I asked the residents of Wheaton Labs what their needs are in regarding an herbal medicine chest and here is the starting list of maladies:
Immune support - fire cider or inner defense (something like Young living thieves products - Jeff)
Cough
dry hands - salve
Burns - salve
Menstrual cramps
Plantar warts or warts

Plants I plan to use and their Ailment List:
Uva ursi for urinary tract infections
Elderberry and Echinacea - cough and colds
Arnica for bruises
Mint salve for Cuts with cooling menthol
Cayenne (probably a tincture) for headaches

I plan to harvest Borage from Missoula and several plants from WL including comfrey, mullein, Uva ursi, and lemon balm.

The instructor for this artifact is Opalyn Rose! "Opalyn has been exploring a truly raw-material life while stewarding land and community in south-central Washington. Opalyn tends the sheep and the forest, transforming a fleece or a tree into not only yarn and lumber but clothing and snowmen too.  She brings her love of that transformation to the classroom sharing her skills while helping you develop yours. "
