I'm finding that about 1/3 of my home brewed beers are bubbling over like champagne when I open the bottles. It's not very festive. I use bottles with swing tops so they can handle the pressure and put the same amount of sugar in each bottle before locking. I tell everyone I share it with to please open it outside incase it's a bubbler!

Is it a concern to you?
If it is its an interesting one to sort out.
There are many brewing forums that may be able to help.
I looked around and found this article, it explains that 90% of the time its sloppy measuring of ingredients!!

What about the other 2/3 beers? Any bubbles?

Yes, they are carbonated. It sounds like the problem is indeed sloppy measurements, like John suggested, because the sugar added was measured based on the spoon being "full" and not every bottle was filled up to the exact same point. I'll try being precise next time and I think I won't have the same problem.

Thank you !

Now I am super curious what sports would be like if we allowed drugs and tiny ads.
