I found a pair of trees in an orchard that seems to be mostly abandoned. One only had empty husks, and showed blight on the trunk; the other doesn't have signs of blight. Last autumn, we found nine chestnuts; I gave three away, and kept some, which I kept cold until they began to sprout, after which I sowed them in the meadow. So far, three have survived; all but one was eaten by deer, but two of those, who were growing in richer soil under an old pile of branches, have resprouted and look healthy.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. -Proverbs 4:7
