Hello all, first off this is my first post. I've been lurking for a bit and this is a really stinkin' cool community. Now for the issue at hand, I want to start my homestead site in north GA and I'm looking for a site. Like 30 acres maybe? Everything I see within my area online is running $8-12k AN ACRE?! What's up with that? I work about 30 miles north of Atlanta and would like to be within 30 miles of my job if possible but it seems like the area has been completely dominated by McMansions. I'm looking for some dark sky as well and I'm following this map:Dark Sky Atlanta (Light Pollution Chart) I'd like to be in the green on there because I'm amazed with stargazing and I hate the Atlanta lights. Honestly, if I could get an affordable farm up around the chatahooche national forest, that be amazing. But anyways, do you folks know anyone selling land in this area? Or know a permaculture/homestead friendly realtor. I'm interested in exploring alternative building methods and symbiotic greenhouse aquaponic systems/natural ponds. I have a couple of sketches I'll upload of my plans for the homestead in a while.

North GA is expensive! Look South!
We've been trying to sell our 40 acres near Milledgeville for almost 2 years now and no nibbles yet. Fully fenced, 3 cabins, well, 5 acres cleared. Right now it's listed at just under $100K. www.georgiapermaculture.net

Daaaaaaang, that's a seriously awesome piece of land. Unfortunately, I'm still on the financial grid and need my job up here in Hotlanta, but man that is the right price for a prime piece of permaculture. I wish! Let me know when you sell it, I'll send it on to some folks who would also be interested.
