Does anyone know of a source (company or private) of Torreya nucifera seeds or plants in the EU, or able to send to the EU? I know a couple of German nurseries have it, as do at least two French companies, but all of them seem to be out of stock. I looked into the possibility of buying from the UK (Jurassicplants) but the cost of phytosanitary certificates combined with the risk of the plants arriving damaged or not at all made it feel not worth it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Ooh, interesting tree Eino - sorry I can't help you, although I may treat myself to a tree or two to try here! Liking shade and moist conditions it could do well. Nice edible seeds that also make good cooking oil could be very useful.

Yeah, it sounds just amazing, doesn't it? Managing shade and oily nuts... It might be a bit of a border case whether it will make it at our place (if we manage to get some plants), the winters should be ok but it seems like it might prefer warmer summers than we normally have. Well, we shall see (maybe).

Hi Alexander, welcome to Permies!
The only company I can find listing it is Sheffields seeds: https://sheffields.com/seeds-for-sale/Torreya/nucifera/ . However, they seem to be out of stock at the moment (looking for suppliers). I did treat myself to a couple of tiny plants from Jurassic plants . They could do with being planted out really now, so thanks for 'bumping' this thread.

Hi Nancy, Torreya seems to be really problematic to get. I ordered "dried seeds" atebay. Today they came - roasted! Now I will try to order here: seedk.com. If You or anyone else is interested, please post me. Let's hope, they will not be roasted. To buy buy seedlings is not an option for me.

No, I will not order at seedk.com. I checked it and it seems not to be trustworthy. Sorry. So I am still searching for a source in Europe ...
