I don't want one, I'd look even worse in it than he does. But I can't figure out even what pattern that would be. Where does the scarf thing come from? is it all one piece?

Dr Google says it was from the Gaultier archive. Did a bit of poking around and in the mid-80s they were doing similar chunky sweater dress things with attached scarfs in the same wool-- looks like they were just attached at the shoulder-ish, not necessarily knitted together in one piece or anything. I didn't see anything with that specific type of fabric work-- the body looks almost felted while the cuff stitching is ENORMOUS- the whole dress looks photoshopped, and this was probably before photoshop.
Hideous, of course (this look was described elsewhere as "Grinchcore") but definitely super interesting to me as a knitter.

There's a smaller version that's actually cute, that's basically a very long scarf, with sleeves, that you wrap around. I've seen it in an oatmeal color, on pinterest, but I've never seen it, in person.
