I certainly have nothing against something that is simple, that is for sure. In my
experience, things that are complex break. That may, or may not, include cell phone apps. I have no experience on that as I am one of 7% of the people in the USA who does NOT have a cell phone!
My only real suggestion is to have something that does measure wind speed. I know the WOFATI by design is wind resistant, but wind does funky things with heat in a building. I deal with wind here almost every day of the year, and know on high wind days it creates a kind of vacuum and sucks the heat out of a building. It would be interesting to see if wind speed outside, affects the heat within the building, and to what degree. IF there is minimal heat loss at high wind speed, then that is a feather in the cap of a WOFATI for sure.
But I am not only excited to have someone in the WOFATI over the winter, but truly excited for
YOU! Good for you to take on this challenge, and I hope I can encourage you in this endeavor. I know this offer has been out there for a long time, and there was no takers, so many of us are very proud of you. So many variables, but what an adventure!
