Hello,

I am new here. I am a recent 60 year young female widow on 2 acres. I have a male California Giant and a female New Zealand Red. I plan on breeding this spring for meat. I am looking for some simple plans to make a couple hutches. The rabbits are in hutches now but I need one or two more. I don't like how cheap ready made hutches are. The rabbits are outside and the prefab hutches you can get at farm stores will not last our weather here in Ohio.

Can anyone provide some simple plans?

Thank you.

Hi Joy-

Also new to rabbits here, since August. I adopted a palamino (?) Buck, a mini rex doe and six babies, some adopted from another litter. We gave some away until we had two bucks and three does. After breeding is established in young does in a few weeks I plan to get rid of older mama. Her mini genes aren't great for meat but her coat is lovely. Her young buck may have gotten her fur, waiting for spring to find out. If not, he will most likely be a pet because he is super sweet but almost as small as mama. Ok, rambling.

There are a ton of yt videos showing hutches, cages,  etc. I'm going to be building a hybrid hutch come spring that I can make into a lawn tractor or put up on a stand. Still designing it now.

Joy and Melonie, thanks for sharing about your rabbits.

How are your hutches working out for you?

Have you thought about working to get some PEP BB (Badge Bits)?

Taking some pictures makes this really easy.

Here are some suggestions that would for rabbits:
