It seems there are a lot of folks interested in doing some work for Permies.  Being one of Paul's virtual assistants might be a good fit for a very small number of folks, but there are a lot of other opportunities to help Permies while earning income, aside form the VA thing.  I thought I'd write down some things to consider pursuing for those folks.

These things may be a good fit for you if:
- You love permies, but only want to work part-time
- You want to set your own schedule, and work on the things you're passionate about
- You want to help permies with a few hours a week, and wouldn't mind earning a few bucks along the way
- You want to build passive and/or residual income, in a way that will benefit you more in the long-term than traditional hourly work.

If this is ringing your bells, may I suggest looking at some of the following options:

- Permies.com Affiliate Program - In my humble opinion, Permies.com Affiliate Program is the strongest, most transparent and generous program out there.  After all, Paul is a computer dude and creator as well as a permaculture doofus, soso it makes sense that he has built an incredibly strong infrastructure for this sort of thing.  Now, having worked with Paul for the last year, I can attest that the tools are powerful and the potential is only limited by your own time, energy, and creativity.  Additionally - permaculture, homesteading, and regenerative ag resources are growing and under-served markets, meaning there is relatively little competition in the market at this time.

- If you want to help permies, but aren't interested in the business sorts of things, there are many threads to help you get started.  I like the list Jocelyn put together back in 2014:

Jocelyn Campbell wrote:

  • post a lot in the forums, and make them media-rich posts (loads of pictures and videos) - more in how permies.com works
  • simple tasks anyone can do any time
  • feed the empire
  • how to share permies with your friends on social media
  • building links between permies and appropedia
  • sign up for the daily-ish email, encourage your friends (including social media "friends") and family to sign up, too
  • watch the tinkering with this site forum for more ideas - click the watch forum button at the bottom of the page

  • I would add to that list
    - just keep hanging around!  There is so much going on at permies all the time.  Jump in somewhere and get involved.
    - Don't forget about SKIP & PEP!
    - You might check out some ways that other permies have developed income on and off permies here: Residual Income PEP BB

In short, there are so many ways to help, get involved, and even earn income with Permies.

What am I missing here?  Anything I should add?  I'd also love to hear from some people who have done some of our affiliate stuff.  A story, some encouragement, or links to threads and other places where it's working . . .

    Another thought:
Make sure you have "I wanna help with devious plots on world domination" selected on your Permies profile email preferences. Then when Paul has a project he needs a bit of help with you can be amongst the first to know!
