Hi all!

I'm a single parent living in a remote area of Northern California along with my teenage son whom I homeschool.

We are currently seeking, and open to a living situation centered around permaculture , creation, and one that offers an alternate way of life to the norms of society if not one that is forging its own new path by way of intentional
living/lifestyle.

We are no strangers to off grid, remote, wilderness living or to permaculture.

I'm most familiar with Korean Natural Farming as a permaculture strategy, and interested in other new paradigm approaches to agriculture.

We are open to various situations so feel free to contact us to have a conversation about what you've got going on or what your trying to get going.

Personally permaculture is a creative outlet, and somewhat of an artistic medium as I consider myself to be some what of a visionary as opposed to an average farmer.

I feel like my ideal situation would be one where I am able to start a farm/garden/related projects from scratch as opposed to tending to an established system, but am open to either depending on the situation.

Aside from permaculture my interests include mycology (home indoor mushroom cultivation), anthropological and phycological studies, arts & sciences (mostly cell biology/bio-chem type stuff), philosophy (Buddhist and Taoist philosophies in particular), meditation, culture (object & subject), reading, writing, and the general contemplation of all reality.

My son is an avid writer, martial arts practitioner, and just got through his first play acting as the leading role in a local production, and is very smart, trustworthy, mature and well behaved.

I'm an INTJ, personality type, he is ENTP if you are familiar with the MBTI typology system.

We are hoping to find something soon, this summer so feel free to contact us here via pm to exchange ideas and contact info.

Hi Adam,
There is a lot to say by way of introduction. So maybe a phone call..? I can send you my resume?
I am in a very similar situation except that I am finally leaving, with a push from the landlord (who wants to sell), the home of 13 years in Oakland (I followed the kids' dad here). And feeling like I will go crazy if I can't continue to implement my creative edible landscape- and natural building- type visions. I can share pics of what I've done here (accomplished having spent almost nothing due to not owning the land).
I currently nurture
artichoke,
apricot,
passion vine,
bamboo,
thornless blackberry,
raspberry,
blueberry,
yacon,
prickly pear,
aloe, agave,
various other succulents,
natives,
worms,
etc.
I have been trying to figure out a scenario in which my youngest son can finish high school with his friends (at Berkeley high), but the Bay Area is so expensive, we'd end up in a concrete hovel and I'd be much happier if we could get more rural in a spacious place. I'm open to collaborating on a land purchase or lease.

Hi Adam
We are in the Adirondack Mountains of NY.   If it's not too far away, I'll tell you all about our ranch in the mountains!  ~Nicky

I can definitely relate. The reason we are moving before we are ready is that our landlords are tearing down the cabin we rent to build their forever home.

Unfortunately due to losses from wild fire, and losses from the holding company of my investments going bankrupt, and the general lack of opportunity to earn capital out here I am in no place to purchase land, but I wish you luck!

Hi Adam.  Last year I started stewarding 3 acres lake front property with nice 3 bedroom house here in subtropical S Texas. The idea is a permaculture farm here, but my son left for a job in California so I am needing some partners. I am an acupuncturist for 30 years and now aspire to farm.I  am  getting a kick out of  transforming a lawn into delicious food and learning to cook with it. I am needing creative solutions all the time it seems .We still have good of both worlds here:hot showers and citywater plus the Rio Grande estuary. I am hinking of most loving solutions for us and planet and inspire others.  There is a nice Farmersmarkt where i got many of my starting plants very cheap $! or $2 and now sell my baby plants for cheap there. The market is subsidized by the Health department so for backyard growers no overhead. Ther is a 1 acre wilderness here too where someone could park or build.

So not to purchase, what about Renting/Leasing? Or are you only interested in joining an established site?

I'd much rather start from scratch and lay groundwork to be perfectly honest whether renting, or partnering.

What areas outside of the bay area have you thought about, or considered?

Happy Solstice Adam,

I’m really curious if Basalt Blossom could be a good fit for y’all. We are located in the Columbia gorge of Washington state.
The infrastructure of the property is established but finding someone passionate to take on the regenerative farm could be amazing.
If you and your son wanted to work trade for the summer and see how it felt here please let me know.

Hi Adam,
I have some off-grid property about 30 mins outside of Ashland, Or. Not too far from you, depending on what part of No. Cal. you’re in. You can check out some of my other posts to learn more about what I’ve got going on. They’re a bit old but mostly still relevant.
Good luck in your search.

Hi Adam, I have almost level 14 A and a house, with well and septic.  It’s wooded.  Ponderosa, oak and incense cedar.  It’s between Fall River valley and Big Valley in N E California, just off 299. Easy year round access.  There are outbuildings.

If I were staying, it might be perfect for you and your son to join me here for work trade for partial to full rent, but I am wanting to sell.  (No buyer as yet, so ‘selling’ might not be all that accurate).  I’d give you a permies discount if you can find a backer or partner with money.

Let me know if you want more information.

Good luck!

Hi Adam,

Did you and your son find your place yet? If not I would be interested in speaking with you.

I am a single woman who would welcome help on a remote location homestead, looking to partner with the right person(s) but not a large group situation.

If you’d like to discuss possibilities, please send me an email at martha2020@tutamail.com

Hello, if you haven’t found the right fit for your situation yet I would love to talk to you about an opportunity on my farm. I am in the very beginning stages of working to incorporate permaculture practices on my farm. You can email me at bowatersfarm@gmail.com if interested in learning more about this opportunity. Thank you!
