Paul talks with Maddy Harland of
Permaculture Magazine and Permanent Publications. They talk about the latest issue of the magazine and start by disagreeing on the usefulness of horses in a permaculture system. They then move on to talk about the
cob greenhouse that is featured in the latest issue of the magazine. Paul mentions how building with cob is a lot of work, but also very satisfying. They then talk about the very dyi cider press that is presented. Paul tells the story of the garbage shredder "cider press" he once saw and the big concern he has with such a system. They also talk about Ben Law's new book, Dave Boehnlein's article, the living willow article, and compact house living.
They talk about
Sepp Holzer's latest book to be translated in English:
Desert or Paradise. Paul and Maddy also cover some of the newer
books from Permanent Publications:
Compact Living by Michael Guerra,
Permaculture in Pots by Juliet Kemp, a new edition of
The Woodland Way by Ben Law,
Edible Cities by Judith Anger, Dr Immo Fiebrig, and Martin Schnyder,
Outdoor Classrooms by Carolyn Nuttal and Janet Millington,
Around the World in 80 Plants by Stephen Barstow.
Maddy mentions that
Permaculture magazine is always looking for good stories, inventions, how-to, ideas, recipes, etc. She is asking if anybody at Permies came up to a small farm nut sheller.
