Hello there! How could I draw more wrens to our backyards including house and other types of wrens? Which types of plants do wrens like year after year? I saw some wrens visting my backyard habitat and the sight was a gift to my eyes. Please let me know if you all know which plants wrens like most. Take care!
We have tons of wrens. I never thought about what kinds of plants they like, but we do have lots of trees and surrounded by a whole bunch more trees. They will live in practically anything, gourds, wood houses, cocoanuts. coffee cans, on top a mop in the shed. They built a nest in my pants one time when I left them hanging on the line too long.
Nothing ruins a neighborhood like paved roads and water lines.
House wrens feed primarily on insects on or close to the ground. Active gardens with cover encourage these food sources. Wrens like small nest boxes roughly 5-6 feet off the ground, and like having several to choose from. They are great to have around!
Could leaf piles do the trick to reel in insects to aid wrens day in, day out? And what about brush piles which could remind wrens of what they had in the wild?
