Hi everyone. I'm a 27 year old woman-thing originally from a rural part of Pennsylvania, but currently I'm living in Philadelphia. My 700 sq ft. apartment is a far cry from a homestead, but one can dream of getting at least a little house with a yard someday...
I try to incorporate as much homesteading as I can into this place by learning to sew/mend/darn clothing the old-fashioned way (just got a few antique wood darning tools), tend an indoor garden for herbs, cook all our food from scratch, and spending lots of time outside in the patches of green we are blessed to have nearby. I'm a collector of seeds, scraps, found items, anything I can scavenge that may come in handy eventually. Being in the city has taught us a lot of things — my wife is big on sustainable urban planning, industrial site remediation, and bike access in cities, and I'm into sustainability, local organic foods and markets, and walkability — but the ultimate goal is to get out of here and find a little patch of land to homestead on or travel out West for fun to find homes and communities along the way. Yoga, creativity, Paganism, and herbalism saved me a few years ago and I'm looking forward to life ahead.

I've been on the internet since I was a kid and miss old-fashioned forums like this. Going to take lessons from here and apply them to my current life, or use them in the future.

I want to share my two cats, Charm and Beguile. They are like my children and I love them more than anything.
