This one is a gift for a relative. It is a Leaf eating spoon with a Pine Needle Basket. I think of it as emblematic of NC - holly and loblolly pine. My stitching is getting a little better with each basket. Would any of y’all be interested in a free tutorial on making Pine Needle baskets? If so, let me know. I was taught by a Lumbee Indian lady when I was in 3rd grade… but forgot about it for a few decades!

Cool!  Well, when I get over this dang head cold, I'll try to make a video.

Hope you feel better soon...... I'd love to see how you make the baskets. Does it have to be loblolly pine or will any pine needles do? I guess they need to be pretty long?

Thanks!  Most folks make them from longleaf pine, but even though that is synonymous with NC, the loblolly is far more common.  You could use any type of pine needle, but the longer they are the easier it is.

Right there with you on the cold; it went from my head to my chest but is now moving out.

If no video happens, I already received a gift. I  appreciate you just posting the pictures of what you made, since I have never seen anything made with pine needles before.
