I have been planting large trees in my pasture. I would like to plant a mixed understory gor my goats to browse, for small stakes and poles. What plants would be best? I was leaning towards locust since I have a tree that sends off a lot of suckers.

I have not had experience with locust trees though it seems since you have locust suckers why not use them.

Hi Steve, that's a great idea. It would probably help to know what climate zone you're in. I'm thinking willow, but that needs a lot of water usually! I guess any shrub the goats find palatable that isn't poisonous and grows well with you will be good!
