Hi All!

I'm new to this, and permie culture in general.  The more I go about the day to day, the more I long for a more simple life.  I am a California native and have always dreamed of having land, animals, a garden, and a self-sustainable life.  I haven't found too many like-minded individuals until I stumbled across this site.  I do not have any land, but hoping that I can meet someone to join and help contribute.  I know this may be a long shot.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Craig,

I was trying to figure out how to respond to your reply.  I haven't thought about Panama, but am definitely open to all possibilities!  Would love to hear more about your life and experiences there.

If I may make a suggestion, ...

Before you get too far into the weeds, you might want to try having some experiences on farms or in communities. Any number of people dream of a rural life, then once they get there, they miss the city. You might want to first try experiencing a bit of what you think you want before you jump all the way in. Look up WWOOF. It's an organization that pairs organic farmers with folks that want to learn. You can go live on a farm for a period of time (it can vary, weeks/days/months) and learn many of the skills you might someday need for your own possible future farm. And you'll actually learn if you like a rural life.

Good luck,

Seriously I am looking for 100 acres of raw land with year around creek to purchase and put up a log cabin home . SOOO if you know of any land available and or a lady interested in this adventure let me hear from you. Best Gary

I am open, honest, value conscious communication. Spiritual, non-religious. Touch is my love language, followed by quality time, acts of service, and words. Part introvert, part extro- I will happily leave a party early if I've had my fill. I eat organic foods whenever I can find them, would love to grow a permaculture garden or food forest. as I have been a certified organic farmer at one time. Prefer clean, clutter-free spaces ( although I do not always have them) with lots of light. Can talk about consciousness all day, lol. Love, friendly dogs, and horses. Independent, seeking interdependent healthy conscious relationship. Have been awake for many years, don't follow any BS mandates, and will never. Seeking a like minded partner / straight women (please mention something about this if you message me so I know you're still genetically human). Planning to build the cabin / home off grid with it's own hydro electric system. Currently seeking land with all year creek. I make tinctures and salves etc. So let me hear from you if you have an interest in getting together to explore possibilities. And as a side business, currently I am importing Vanilla Beans from Madagascar and selling them on line for extra funds to support living off grid.   You can go to SOURCEOFFOOD.COM to see my web site...  Best Gary.

They had a reply icon at one time. Have to read all the quotes can take up space. Lol

Well I have been here for two years before COVID I was in Costa Rica for 8 months. Some of my best Free time in life.

Both are listed as as Top destinations for living and Retirement.

Costa Rica has become more expensive. Mostly do to exchange rates. Yet Panama uses the USD and it's cheap to live, get land, find, build a homstead.

There are more sustainable communities in CR. And Panamá has great potential.

So I then to go between the two countries every 3-6 months. So I can stay in either up to 6 months being Canadians

It's starts with a Dream, then a Vision, then a Desire, yet Will is required and Action needed, to Begin any adventure in life. And not to just follow a systematic limiter of human Spirit.

Keep seeing the Dream, and Vision your Desires, Build within self, that which rises your Will Power to Create Action.

This is your beginning to Creating your future and future world.

So tomorrow buy some organic fruits and veggies. Get soil and start preparing to start planting seeds.

If you don't have a green thumb. It's ok, the biggest part of sustainable living is obtaining knowledge. And there's a lot out there.

You tubers are great sharing their passions for many types of living.

Look for something you are interested in Creating in or for future life.

There are all types of Intentional Communities ic.org I have fiends looking to start in Boca de Todo. And land there to buy. $50k/ha.

I seen long of land for sale. From 1acre o 1000 ha

Panamá is an amazing and growing Nation.
You can be on your Finca, farm on the Caribbean Coast, over looking the Atlantic Ocean and watch the sunrise, spend the day in the garden, and greenhouse. And in a 2 hours drive be in Modern Metropolitan Panama City, dropping of produce for 2 million people have evening dinner, watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

Starting from nothing can be a long process. Yet finding the right partner and having the supports and knowledge of creating. together something that severe the greater community, is what faming sustainable is about. One supports the whole, the whole supports the one. ,,🙏

There are only words with a vision or possibly.
We need to know grow to know our limits. I can assure you most all have place upon themselves many limits, that stops them, from obtaining theirs dream, visions, desires and , passions.

Time or lack of how to use it, is a major limiting factors. And so is funds to Build and or Create.

Yet again with Dream, Vision, Desire, Will and Action. One can offer Hand on Training and Experience Programs, that benefits everyone.

So keep the Dream, there are several ways to make them happened. Ultimately it's all about the Choices we make, that gets it Created. ,🙏❤️

Well I was in Sea Cadets in my youth. This is where I started sailing. Dinghy sailing. Then joined the Navy, served 6 years in Canada and 4 in Australia. I go my Comp Crew sailing 32" monohull.

I did have a 26 Catalina that I purchased in USA and towed back to NL, Canada. Did work on it and sold it.

I now have a 32" Westerly at anchor in Linton Bay, Panamá. Yet she need a bit of work to get her sailing.

However, I'm thinking a 40 to 60" catamaran would make a great boat to travel, live aboard.

You like sailing, boating Kat?

Craig: I’m not sure if this creates a reply. I’ve never used this site before. Feel free to message me directly if you know how. I didn’t mean to hijack this post!
The answer is yes! Love yachts and sailboats.  Have been working on them for a long time.  Had a goal of owning a ‘Katya-Maran’ on day

I second this.

We can live a simpler life in the city as well. Maybe not in your city, since American cities are particularily bad suited.
I know a few people that just live a simple life in the city, small apartments, no cars, cheap hobbies, and they can do with a small salary or petty jobs. Not making up for the Johnsies saves a lot of money for stuff that really matters.

Welcome here,  I am James and I am 46.  I have 30 acres that I am progressing on out here in Gaines County in west Texas.  More or less I am working on reshaping the land right now to put more of the little bit of rain we get into the ground.  I am looking for people interested in helping progress this as work as well.  As for my area It is more rural but I do have the Cities of Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa all roughly an hour or less from my place if I do want to get out to do something.  I am also just 30 minutes from NM if things are running late and need and extra hour.   As for my land it is on a draw that has had most of it's topsoil washed away an so I am working with sand and caliche ground which is a work out right now.  Hopefully soon I will be integrating more as the soils start getting hydrated.
