I really want to try and grow Mortan citrange so I can work on breeding it further with poncirus to make Kentucky grown oranges. Mortan citrange is already close to cold hardiness, but they are hard to find.
The trees might survive the real challenge will be to get the fruits to ripen before frost hit them, even in zone 8.
Iterations are fine, we don't have to be perfect

Yeah that is true, but I know of poncirus that fruit and I believe ripen here in zone 7 Kentucky. I figure if we can grow passionfruit, it would be worth a shot.

I got a few acres in Florida that I am going to start turning into a food forest, so I look forward to being able to plant oranges.

Even monkeys fall from trees. I brought you an ice pack tiny ad.
