Hi folks,
I have free access to a LOT of humate, basically as much as I could ever want or use. This is a new resource for me and I'm curious if there are any best practices for application or things to avoid. For example, I notice that when it gets wet it has a tendency to bind, so a thick layer over woodchips, for example, seems to shed water unless the surface is textured. Any recommendations?

I'm kind of interested in the idea of utilizing humate. I believe it is a soil amendment that is useful to a certain amount of application and then it doesn't benefit the soil anymore no matter how much more material you are adding.

I'd shoot for roughly two pounds of humate for every hundred pounds of garden space. If you really feel frisky and want to use it, how about ten pounds for every thousand pounds of yard space?

I have a bag of humate that I'm going to be incorporating into my amendment cycle this year but I really don't have much better information than that. I'll be curious to see what your plan fleshes out to be!
