I started planting this food forest on our then new property in my Mom’s honor and memory on her birthday, December 5th, 2020.  The Terrea Zumeta Food Forest would most definitely not exist without her support, gardening mentorship and inspiration, as well as her patient but undoubtedly uncomfortable gestation of little baby me. I could go on, but this thread is really meant to be about these video walk throughs I have made each Spring and Autumn:

This property has become the home of Old Growth Orchard and Nursery (a small business endeavor), and is the experimentation ground for my permaculture consulting service, Old Growth Edible Landscapes. Feel free to post questions or observations, or PM me if I could be of help to you. Happy New Year, and be well friends!

Hi Ben,
Thanks for sharing your inspirational videos. I'm sorry you had such a tough year last year, but maybe the trees would have failed anyway in a year or two. I do like to see the different ways people overcome their particular location issues. In your case lack of good soil and water in summer, although it seems that you have a good amount (of both) further up the hill, which must be a good start.
Your composting operation looks impressive. I'm never sure whether composting in situ or having a dedicated composting area is the best route, but I guess as with everything, 'it depends'! I'll be interested to see how the site develops in a year or two, particularly the understory, which is my particular focus at the moment. Good luck for this year coming.
