Greetings communitarians,
I posted this in the regional section but thought I'd also post it here too. Myself and my husband seek community in Washington county or Clackamas County, near Portland OR USA. We don't want to live in Portland proper, I lived there most of my life, my husband moved there to marry me and very strongly disliked it, we live in West Linn right now but are tired of this apartment complex and ready for something more purposeful and neighbourly. Our lease ends in June, so hopefully around that time we can shift into our new chapter of life by moving into community. We're currently on the interest list for Cascadia Commons, a cohousing community, hoping for a one bedroom or two bedroom. But we want to look at all options to find the place where we'll fit best.
Things we need:
To be within 3/4 of a mile from buss access or closer,
A space that has some privacy, either our own kitchen or a situation where we'd provide the kitchen gadgets (my husband is a very good cook and we got most of said gadgets as wedding presents so we don't want to part with them. We're open to sharing space if the fit is right, but we want to not lose all this gadgetry and we're happy to outfit a shared kitchen if that's what is available).
We want a mix of privacy and community.
We need our living space to be pet-free. If there's a quadplex and the other neighbours have pets I don't care about that, just not in our unit, etc.
Things that would work well for us would be:
apartment unit, duplex, quadplex etc.
Mobile home,
ADU/cottage/cabin,
basement apartment. Something like that.
Our community values:
Personal liberty, collaborative cooperation,
Personal responsability,
Respect and kindness,
Connection with nature/the earth/Creation.
I sing professionally at Renaissance faires, fairy festivals, pirate campouts etc. I have a vintage mall booth and I do mental health peer support work at the local NAMI chapter. I'm into gardening and learning permaculture. My husband is taking cyber security classes in order to change careers, he's a very good cook and loves learning new skills, and he's patient and kindhearted.
We're not in a position to go in on purchasing land at present, rather we want to rent space and add to your community in that capacity. I'm extraverted and he's a sociable intravert, we make friends easily and enjoy connecting with our fellow humans.
I do Celtic, fantasy, folk and shanty singing at Renaissance faires, fantasy festivals, pirate campouts, and other events in OR and WA, USA.
