The rooibos plant, Aspalathus linearis, is a member of the legume family, and grows in South Africa where it was a popular tea, until, I'm told, much of it started being exported to North America.

PFAS made it sound as it might be possible to grow it in North America, so I thought I'd ask my favourite permies if any of you know if it's being grown here, and where, and how successfully.

As a tea, it checks a number of my boxes, although apparently it lowers blood pressure, which is why my body only likes it occasionally.

Jay,

I was thinking to grow it myself, my climate could be similar, but I read that it was a failure to cultivate it out of its native region due to lack of symbiotic fungus (or bacteria). Maybe it's still possible.

I'm still in control here. LOOK at this tiny ad!
