About smoking stoves when they are cold...
When the RMH is cold, I have read that you can start the fire deeper into the burn tunnel, or burn some paper.

I remember a trick we used in mountain refuges...
Very cold outside, and freezing inside, ...and a smoking stove as a welcome! There might have been some snow above, and anyway, everything was soooo cold!

We used to put a lighted candle below the 90° bend just after the cast iron stove.
It was heating the start of the straight vertical pipe going up to the roof.
It worked VERY well for starting a smoke-free fire.

I don't know if this can be used on the pipe that goes out of the house for a rocket, because it will be much further from the rocket than in the stove case.
