Please share any hometown community events happening near you in the Ozarks, including food, livestock, music and craft related!

I can't post links with my kindle but these first two are easy to find with an online search.

In Leslie, Arkansas, a 'Rock, Rhythm and Blues Fest' on May 11. A farmers mkt. beginning at 8am, fishing derby and crafts then music at different venues around this tiny town. Lots of organic growers and interesting folks.

The Arkansas Craft School is sponsering 'Sustainability Weekend' memorial Day weekend outside of Mountain View Arkansas.

surely something's happening in the Ozarks now that most of the snow has melted...

We are having a 'mostly perennial' plant and seed exchange on sunday April 6, 2014 at our home. Bring potted labeled plants, seeds, excess garden related catalogs and magazines....and a potluck dish. Potluck at noon...exchange all afternoon.

camping is possible...we are just outside of Mountain View, AR...lots to explore in the area.

PM for more info...or ask questions here

Baker Creek Spring Planting Festival May 4-5th in Mansfield, MO. That's a Sunday-Monday festival. It's about a 2-3 hr drive from NWA and totally worth it. If you don't grow from seed, you can purchase starters of just about anything. They have a seed store and apothecary and over 150 vendors last year. Trust me... put it on your calendar and GO.

Josh, thanks for listing Baker Creek...we have both visited and been venders there and camped and had a fun time...plus bought/traded for some really great plants and seeds.

This is a link for the Arkansas Craft School calendar for 2014. The location is in Mountain View Arkansas.
Really great classes and scholarships are available for some.

let me know if you want to come to our plant exchange that I mentioned in a post above...we are outside of Mountain View.

Happening soon....everyone is welcome to bring seeds to trade... http://www.ozarkfolkcenter.com/calendar-of-events/details.aspx?id=131759

Got Whippoorwills, Razorbacks, Red Rippers, Pencil Cob, Hickory King, Greaseback or Turkey Craws to trade? Are you saving dill, cilantro and parsley seed? We invite you to bring some seeds and stories to swap with other Ozark seed savers. If you have no seeds to swap but want to get started, come along to mingle with gardeners and farmers who can help. Come with the intent to grow the seed you obtain and return in 2017 to swap what you save for even more varieties. If you do not have seeds, you could bring envelopes or garden implements, baked goods or tea, just anything to share or trade with other gardeners. In this way, we can observe the heritage of Arkansas.

And tomorrow is the circus! We can go to the circus! I love the circus! We can take this tiny ad:
