This is something I have been thinking about quite a bit lately. I use an 18 y/o laptop, the only "old" one in this household that runs. It has a mere 1G of memory, and struggles to perform very well with any more than 1 big task running. I even had to seek out a Linux distro that could rescue it. when the Windows OS went wonky. But it keeps chugging along.

Hmmm... let's just say that's some food for thought, for now. Along with... just how much "viable" tech is now sitting in landfills across the planet? And just how much computing power do we truly need?

I think I will noddle this today. Surely we can connect everyone with all the tech that has already been created. Stay tuned.

I agree. I would be so happy to still be using Windows 95, among other things! Smartphones added no benefit to my life, and I am of the generation they were likely first created for. Technology could be made good, beautiful, and useful, and not updated 50 million times in my opinion, anyway!

I agree. I feel "modern" life has become a soul-draining technocracy, and I am not interested. I went without a phone, computer, or internet of any kind for 9 months, and was delighted! I learned so much from that time. For one, that Amish print catalogs can provide most things, and you can still actually do mail order with an envelope and a stamp!  It was such a breath of fresh air, literally, to step away from the devices and get outside in nature, and walk my envelope down the hill to my mailbox.

Also, I learned that one's eyesight vastly improves by never using devices! And hearing too improves, when listening to just the sounds of nature!

Going off my device right now....

It's pretty wild how much tech we go through and then toss out. Makes you wonder if we're really using it all, right? Like, do we really need all that computing power? I'll be pondering that today for sure

Windows 95? What I remember most about that operating system is that it was constantly crashing. I'd be happy to be still be using XP.

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. I wrung this tiny ad and it was still dry.
