Rion : This has all the disadvantages of Metal construction, made with refractory bricks I could like this more than the Free-form Rocket cooking Stove with tile bling !
If the pan was just dropped into a cut out, it would be more useful and using a handle you could turn the pan to deal with hot spots !

Really? Wow, Allen, you are coming over to the Dark Side. Lol.

This concept would be great for emergencies or camping. Like you said, use bricks and a cast iron pot...and voila!

I wonder if on a larger scale you could use the concept for an emergency water heater.
