A few years ago, maybe seven, I threw a load of all the different kinds of fruit tree seeds I could find into a bed, covered them in mulch, then left them to get on with it.
Life happened, we ended up buying a new place, so in December of 2019 I dug up any baby fruit tree that had survived the
experience and put them in a big tub of damp sand to transport to my new place to plant out here, there and everywhere.
Some of them got planted up on the very top terrace, way above the house, just below the forest.
I gave them no care whatsoever. STUN style!
Here's one of the apricots in July 2020. It had settled in rather well I thought!
Here's the same one in April 2021. Not very much different, but had successfully survived a whole year out there with no care so I was very pleased with it.
By August 2022 it had found its feet and was flourishing!
Austin and Rock for scale...
Unfortunately, there was a big fire here in August 2023 and it was one of the casualties.
This was taken in September 2023.
By October, however, the rains had come and there were signs of regeneration from the
roots!
We went up there to have a bit of a look around yesterday, July 2024. And just look at the size of it - taller than it was before the fire last year!
The original main stem is still there, completely dead. But with the new growth reaching up beyond it.
To say I'm impressed would be an understatement!
