The video also has passable subtitles in English, if you turn them on.

For Finnish log construction you may also want to take a look at the show 'Grand Designs' - I seem to remember there was an episode dedicated to a family constructing a Finnish log cabin kit.

I used to live in Finland and these structures are very common. Many families also build a structure like this one that is designed for their sauna. It's commonly said in Finland that you're not really a man unless you can build your own sauna and sauna house. I guess I'll never be a man, because the skills those gentlemen displayed in the video were impressive and beyond my reach. I wish our county planning boards were a bit less up tight and allowed people to build what they want, such as this log structure, without all the buracracy. One of the things I miss most about Finland is all the wooden structures that last hundreds of years. Google images for the city of Porvo, Finland, which is famous for its wood structures.

I've definitely seed that video on Finnish log cabins before. I was hoping at least one member of this forum has tried this procedure in home construction. It definitely looks like a refined craft.
