Set up some rain gutters and rain barrels. Just basic fittings that can be added onto later.

I never got beyond placing buckets and barrels under the eves

It works great and there are always so many other tasks to do I never advanced my low tech approach -- just dump, bail and pump the water out

I place barrels around the property (zone 1-2) for irrigation using a relay method
