Lithium mining is coming to south Arkansas.
This is the state that also penalizes us yearly with our car registration for driving a hybrid.

I am curious how we can balance the hidden costs of driving a car using lithium batteries...gas guzzlers were somewhat clearer in their polution trail.

Posting now and will add some links later.

I welcome thoughts about this

Judith, here in Virginia the last few attempts from the questionable mining companies were voted down by the good people.  But I'm sure those companies will be trying again one day.

Virginia also kinda screws EV owners with a high fee schedule, their claim being that since one no longer buys fuel the income from the added road use tax will go down!

I have no answers, this is way above my pay grade.

At one point I was thinking about looking for land in NW Arkansas, maybe I should move that option to a rear burner???

Peace

It's a tricky issue. I lean towards it's better if the mining is done in the USA where at least we have SOME environmental controls, rather than in other countries with no regulations and child slave labor doing the work.

I sort of doubt that electric cars ( I drive a hybrid) are any more environmentally sound than gas cars. The energy has to come from somewhere.
