Hi fellow Permies!! I have been looking for permaculture resources and came across this website. I am so excited to find a place like this!! I live in sunny and hot Bakersfield, CA. I moved into my current place 3 years ago. Since then I have built two 3x15 raised planters out of neighbors' left over cinder blocks and I am beginning to build a third. So far this season I have harvested 85 pounds of organic produce from them (and the season is only half over )I also built a chicken tractor out of an old picnic table and cedar fence. I only need to purchase eggs a couple times a year when my chickens are in molt. The connection to the land, my food, and nature has brought me much peace and has taught me how to slow down and enjoy the slow process of natural creation.

I hope to learn lots and lots in this community! Thanks for being
