We are a middle aged married couple who have grown tired of the everyday rat race the world has become We are seeking a more simple way of life were we can become totally sustainable and off grid. We have been self employed in the construction trades doing home remodeling from the east coast to the west coast. Our skills include framing, multi level decks, drywall, general plumbing and electrical, tile, flooring installation, just to name a few. We are hoping to find someone who is willing to trade 1 acre of land (preferably in the mountains and with a water source...creek, stream ) in exchange for our skilled labor. Location ..east to west does not matter but north to South would like to be mid to northern USA or alaska. Somewhere that is not humid. Has all 4 seasons and that has a white Christmas as I love seeing the snow. The land would need to have trees that we could harvest to build a cabin with.

Hi Wendy,

I'm in southern Oregon, with some off-grid forestland. You can read some of my other posts to learn more about it and myself. Most of it is still applicable. While the property is looking for community, I wouldn't be able to promise any permanent land trade without having spent some time together. In reality, That would likely be measured in years, not weeks or days. Being a place I've found and made the investment in. I would be able to commit to long-term neighbors that were a complete match. That being said, I am not opposed to the concept and, having been on your end, completely understand the desire to gain equity from your contributions. I have not explored the legal options, restrictions, or liabilities around such an agreement.

Good luck in your search,
Leaf
