Howdy all, long time, no posts. I have finally retired after many long hours spent working in very toxic environments. We sold our
land in Wyoming, paid off our house in Denver, and had a bit left over to buy a 3.5 acre lot outside of a small community called Walsenburg, Colorado. It's a two and a half hour drive from home, so for now I only get down there every so often, but it gives me a place to get away and putz in the dirt. This is raw land, covered in Pinyon, cedar and juniper
trees. A few scrub oaks and current bushes. Lots of cactus and herbs and grasses that I am still discovering. There is a large arroyo down the middle of the lot so I have spent some time building a bridge across it to access the whole property. Two 18 inch culverts through it, that I hope will be
enough to let a large cloudburst of
water pass through. I have rented a skid steer to do that work and will be renting one again this spring sometime, to do some
earthworks. Still getting to know the
local community and find sources for
compost and building materials. Lots of dreams and schemes thatI hope to get done in my remaining years.
