Hi! I live in Campbell River, BC, on Vancouver Island. I'm wondering if there are any "permaculturists" or permie groups on the Island. While I'm not currently using many of the techniques, I'm hoping to begin a small food forest in the future here in town. I sure could use support from someone else who'd like to discuss the ideas.
Dale here. I live in Victoria and have land near Nanaimo. There are several others on this and surrounding islands. I haven't met many of them, but have spoken to a few by phone and met others here. I don't think it's appropriate for me to name them here. If you're in Victoria, look me up, or call for any reason.
Thanks, guys! I don't get to Victoria very often, but Merville is nearby. I'm in the phonebook. Give me a call and maybe we could get together for coffee (Merville Store?).
I moved to Sooke in the fall, and we've just bought land (well, as of next week when everything's done). We've formed a co-op with another family, and are intending to feed ourselves and then branch out into whatever is the most fun/feasible for production (tons of ideas - maybe pigs!). I'd love to meet up.
I talked to another local Permie, and we will try for a meet up on Monday October 27th, at 7. Looks like we will be at Lake Trail School in Courtenay. I hope many of you can make it! Pass the word along. I need more like minded folks in my life!
Be aware it's a pretty new group, and there hasn't been much local networking to my knowledge. It seems there are a number of shy permies scattered around the area, as far as I can tell though.
