I’m just a simple hobbit looking for my homesteading companion. I’ve lived on various land projects over the years and am now in the phase of my life where I would like to start or co-start my own with like-minded folk. I’ve been diligently working in the healthcare industry over the last few years and am ready to start the property hunt out here in western NC, although for the right match, I would consider doing so elsewhere. It is late in the game for me, but I would like to bring a little hobbit into the world and I’m prioritizing someone who wants the same in my search. Things I’m looking for in a companion: leftist-leaning, financially stable, excellent communication skills, high EQ, hard-working and excited to build a permaculture-based life together, kind-hearted.

I am loosely a jack-of-all-trades and have a  wide-range of permaculture, construction, and DIY skills to bring to the table, as well as over a decade of microbiology, soil science, and mycology. Anyone looking to start a mycology-based permaculture farm? Hmu

Hi Beth,
I’m a 51yr old homesteader in Southern NJ. I have some land and I’m 3 years into the journey. The goal is to be self sufficient by 2028.
I can hear the flute in the background, I live in the shire, I’m also Tom Bombadil:)

I rather enjoyed reading your post,  A Hobbit indeed you don't look four foot tall, and you are far better educated than any hobbit I know.  That is a really decent sized fungi specimen you have in that pic, I got the impression it was a bracket fungi like trametes coccinea at first.  Any how I thought I would suggest growing mushrooms in old but stable mine shafts and horizontal drives.  I believe they have a lot of those in the eastern USA from coal mining, a couple in Tasmania have done just that with an old disused railway tunnel growing Shitake Mushrooms, and are doing well financially.  If you know of any other female Hobbits who know a thing or two about growing Pecans whom might be inclined to venture way on down  south to the land of Aus tralia  pass on my details rchapman876@ gmail.com.  I hope you find your middle earth with a resident Fun Guy  who really digs mushies.    Oh and if you want to find this old timer on you tube go to this URL where I am trying to find a relevant use for useless election advertising. https.//www.youtube.com/watch?v=z65j5DiohMY   Best of luck I reckon you will find your some one special.  Yours truly Rob Chapman

What does a metric clock look like? I bet it is nothing like this tiny ad:
