I need a solar powered aerator for making weed tea in 20 gallon old black feed tubs.
I like to leave one tub at each of our garden spaces for watering needy plants so portability is important.

any ideas?

recommendations?

This is probably as cheap as anything DIY: $18.09 w/$4.99 shipping

thanks Anne!
That's a good place to start and good to know there is such a thing.

I'm hoping for quality that might last awhile and expecting to pay more.

sorry for not being clearer from the beginning...

What we're looking for is something quality, as in not a lot of plastic, that will last for years, decades even

Maybe there is no such thing in which case I'll just continue using a stick 🙃

I try avoid Amazon when possible so that makes it even more of a challenge.

I saw pond aerators that looked too big for my use but maybe well made.

Maybe someone here has used one and could recommend?

Do you have an existing solar power source, or are you looking for an all-in-one solution?

Keep in mind that water pumps can be used for aeration, as long as the setup at the outlet isn't submerged but rather creates turbulence that pulls air in with it.

I'm sure there are lots of solar powered statuary and decorative pond pumps.

Marine bilge pumps may also work, though you'd need your own solar source.

On the higher quality side, farm supply stores sell solar dugout pump kits. These keep cattle (and their poop) out of the water source and fill a remote tank instead.

Thanks Douglas!

no solar set up here.  We are looking for an all in one easily portable set up.

had not thought about a water pump although a friend just got a solar fountain for his bird bath.

I'm convinced after many years that weed tea is the way to give our gardens a home grown boost so wanted to try for an easier method to make it.

will check out solar dugout pump kits at the hardware/feed store here.

Douglas, did you mean 'dankoff' rather than 'dugout'?

Haha, no. "Dugout" is just a local term for a man-made pond or watering hole. I keep forgetting that it's not universally understood.
