I want to share this idea with you folks , I have been living in Kingston , Ontario , Canada for almost half my life . I own a small city bungalow 740 sq ft , lot size 33 ' x 132 ' . I just built a new garage to contain my tools and my hobby , i restore and repair vintage campers under 13 ' . There is a long 2 story 8 unit apt building within four feet of my fence and a mirror image house like mine , two and a half feet on the other side . I'm waiting for the house prices to increase so i can afford to buy a lot and build a smaller house and not close to neighbours . I'm 51 , single and would very much like to be in touch with nature . I plan on doing this in 5 to 10 years . Everything will be different , off the grid for sure and a southern exposure . The only thing i would have to pay would be land tax . What else do i have to keep in mind ? Midlife Crisis ( HELP )
Hi Miles , Thank you for the warm Welcome . Spartan's are beautiful trailers . I only do small trailers mostly 13' , that's as big as i care to do . I like the small ones better , Any larger it wouldn't fit in my garage . I really am unhappy living here , there's to much noise and things happening during the night . Kingston is a University City ' many thousands of students ; some of which take part in vandalism . A group of students in the area walked on my car ( serious damage ) . My truck was spray painted , garden lights kicked down the street and so on . Country living would give me privacy . I want to build a home smaller than i now have . I have thought of many different types of homes : rammed earth is what i like the most . I especially want to be off grid , I won't miss those mortgage payments . I'll be dept free . My question is what are the things i need to do before moving , any out of the ordinary i should be concerned about ? Thank you to all in advance .
