First foal! Tips for winter care?

We've had donkey foals, calves, goat kids, puppies, and chicks, but never a horse foal.

We inherited a pregnant mare awhile ago, and it looks as if she'd going to foal this winter...

Any suggestions or advice on how to take care of both foal and mother in this cold weather will be greatly appreciated.

How cold is your cold? Are we talking South Carolina or North Dakota? What kind of shelter do you have?

We're in zone 7. It doesn't get below the low teens normally.

The shelter we have is a big Port-a-Hut, open on one end. about 25' long, and 12' wide at the opening.
We have lots of big hardwood trees, pines, cedars etc to block the wind as well.
