So one of the side benefits of having free ranging
chickens is that they tend to like the roadside as a place to pick at gravel. Recently I've let my
chickens out of the paddock system so that they can clean up all the gardens and around the house. They've ranged on down towards the roadside and across the street to the neighbor's fields. This means that at any one time there could be about 20
chickens near or in the road. I've noticed that the traffic on my road has slowed down significantly as a result of this behavior.
Just an added benefit to having chickens. Safer streets and increased gas mileage for the drivers.
