answer will be different dependent on your location but if a grid tied system is what you want, your first step
should be to determine what your utility provider allows. For instance in Kansas
City, KCPL has whole process for grid tie with a list of rules and limits for approval. One of these said rules is that all systems, wind or otherwise must be UL (Underwriters Laboratories) compliant. Give them a call and investigate.
