We have been living the off-grid life here for several years, however, now due to grave health issues, we must leave for a lower altitude.
We have a house, greenhouse and small cabin on 10 acres, with well rights (good, deep well) near the house. The house is cinderblock/adobe/stucco, comprised of one 20'X24' kitchen/lvingroom/bathroom and a 16'X16' bedroom. There is a large woodstove in the bedroom that provides heat for the whole house, and a wood cookstove in the kitchen. The house is furnished with Kitchen table, cabinets and countertops, pantry and closet, and queen size platform bed. There is a 16'X8' Deck. The well has a deep-water hand pump.
As of this date there are 4 cords of cut firewood included. There is also a ranch-only (not registerable) 1985 Ford F-150 included.
Solar is high efficiency 205 watt solar panel and two 6-volt golf cart batteries for 12 volt system.
The small cabin is 8'x8', two-story with metal roof. The greenhouse is 8'X16'. A small chicken coop is also included.
The land is 20+ miles from paved road and very private. It borders NM State and BLM land. Abundant game, antelope, elk, deer, rabbits. High Chaparral land (7000+ ft.) with beautiful mountain views. Abundant firewood available. Surplus building materials included (OSB, some 2x4's, and lots of PVC pipe and connectors etc.)
We have satellite internet set up which we will be happy to transfer to you.
What part of NM is this located? How far is the nearest community or neighbor? Has there ever been a garden? Would it need fencing to keep the critters out? There are 2 liveable structures (house and cabin)? Is there a septic, bucket system, etc?

We are in Catron County, near Pie Town. Pie Town is about 30 miles away. Nearest neighbor is about 5 miles. We have gardened in the green house. We have a slash fence to keep cattle out. Yes, there's a house and a cabin. Composting toilet.
If you are interested, please feel free to contact me directly at email@example.com. We are scheduling visits now.
Wow! This sounds really cool! I have a couple of questions...
- How close is your nearest neighbor? Can you see their house from your house? I like a lot of privacy.
- Do you own this land all by yourself? Are there any liens on it? Sorry for asking, but there are a lot of scams out there and I've come across a few already.
- How long have you been there? And are the solar panels that old as well?
- You say you have "well rights"...what does that mean? Does someone else own the well? If so, does that cause you any problems? What type of agreement do you have with them?
- How far is the well from the house?
- Do you store the water? Or pump it every day? What kind of well is it? How far down does it go?
- You mention a chicken coup...do you have chickens and do they come with the lease?
- How cold does it get there in the winter?
- You mention that you have to leave due to health reasons. When are you looking for someone to get there? Will someone be there to show me the place if I can't come until after you've gone?
I have so many questions! I hope you don't mind answering them for me. I'll probably have more, but if you could answer these, I would really appreciate it.

This land is secured with a trust, and we are the Grantors of the deed to the trust. Since it is in a trust it is not saleable, so that is why we are offering a lease, for which we have the legal right. If we were selling this outright, it would be priced around $60K.
Our reason for offering this are health related and personal.
Please let me assure you that this is not a "scam", we are just honest, industrious people who are trying to do what we can. If anyone is SERIOUS and has the resources, and would like to visit with the intention of possibly taking the house lease or just a land lease, we are happy to show them the paperwork that proves we have the right to lease this.
In the past we have tried to create a community of people who wanted to live the off-grid life with us in peace, cooperation and in harmony with the earth. We had many visitors in that process, including some who did not understand the concepts of cooperation, some who did not understand the concept of receiving nor giving kindness, and some who were out and out bigots. Perhaps one of these people is the one who is claiming that this is a scam.
Just because we are doing something out of the ordinary does not make it wrong, illegal, nor a scam. Decide for yourself.
I also would like to know if lump or payments for the lease. And I do have my own Mini home to reside in. I'm simply hoping for stability, community, off grid, and neighbor helping neighbor. I'd like to get other single or couples who are interested in the "tiny houses" that is rising out of the economically fractured America.
My only issue is I don't have $25k at this time, but I am hoping my long awaited settlement comes thru. I'd be willing to work off the charges by keeping grounds cleaned, watching for vandals, looters, druggies and thieves. As well as kind of working as a type of "management" or general organizer until or even after I'm able to pay the $25k.
I moved from Az to Wa and am regretting that idiotic decision. I'm freezing and haven't felt my toes in a year.
Ill send you an email with my general story. And I hope to get a yay or nay from you soon.
If you've already found someone or few, I do play well with others.
Thanks for your time.
