Hello,
I am seeking a
volunteer opportunity or
PDC in July and/or August 2014. I am a speech-language therapist in NYC who services culturally and linguistically diverse students in an inner
city community with great economic need. I would like to eventually work towards obtaining a
permaculture certificate, and to acquire knowledge and skills that would translate to building community and target some of the issues in the area in which I work. I am bilingual, and speak Spanish quite fluently. I also can understand / speak a touch of Portuguese. I display a subtle preference for volunteering in a community or participating in a
PDC in a Spanish-speaking community, but am willing to travel to just about anywhere. Although I presently do not have any formal training in the area of
permaculture, I am very willing to learn and am a highly diligent worker.
What I am seeking:
1. An opportunity to volunteer OR diving into a
permaculture design course
-Does anyone suggest I gain
experience in a setting in which
permaculture principles are applied prior to obtaining a permaculture design certificate? Or to dive into a PDC?
-Does anyone know of any Spanish / English bilingual permaculture design courses?
2. Perhaps a travel / volunteer partner to partake in such a venture
3. Suggestions on communities and projects that I could participate in during the months of July and August in 2014
More about me: I am 28 year old young professional currently living in NYC. Although I am a dedicated, passionate worker, I have a gentle, easy-going personality. Some of my interests include camping, hiking, and traveling.
Intentional community intrigues me.
