Hi Permies,
I'm new to the forum (more or less) and new to the rocket stove concept entirely.
I've been reading along, all very interesting and I have a question (never guessed, did ya?).

I'm interested in the wood savings, having to cut and gather it all myself and would like to do a hybrid build similar to this one:
indoor pocket rocket
Lower half of the post.

I'm assuming this type of thing, basically a wood stove and bell with a riser, won't generate the same kind of heat in the riser as a rocket.

That being the case, if indeed it is, would a length of metalbestos, which I already have on hand, suffice for the riser?
Or would it still be DOOMED!!!?

Thanks
Fred

Cool forum BTW. I came to look at permiculture but got sidetracked,

"for you going thru a wall or ceiling to make other people happy !"

Aint that the truth!

Okay, that makes things a little more complicated.
Thanks.

Oh! I'll try to photo-document my build, stumbles and all, and post it here.
