Keeping Guineas Out of Certain Areas

Guineas are great, but sometimes, they get in trouble, especially when they start getting into the vet or feed areas. The problem with fencing them out of areas, is that you pretty much need to fence top to bottom, full enclosure. This can get expensive with chicken wire.

So, we've been testing out cheap and long lasting orchard netting. Not only does it keep the guineas out of the areas they don't need to be in, it is very easy to install and should last a very long time.

Hi Abe,

Forgive my total ignorance, but what exactly is a Guinea?

Are you talking about a Guinea Pig, like the one my daughter has? (Smart little buggers by the way- and curios! I could see how they might be a real nuisance.)

Or do you mean Guinea fowl?

We only have two guinea fowl left but as their number dwindled they seemed to be more curious about what we were doing and checking out the shop and garden shed...so far I just wave my arms but netting a few places would help. Thanks. You must have replaced yours that the coyote? got.

I guess I am fortunate to have a hearing loss in the high frequencies...I only hear what sounds more like muttering and I have to be looking at them...reading their lips???.

On a side note, how does that netting hold up in the sun? It might be ideal for some projects I have coming up.
