Anyone growing this? I can't buy it anymore ever since the ban but when I was in the Army I was amazed at how much energy I got. It is also supposed to be good for asthma not that I have any.

You can get Ma Huang from Horizion Herbs. I am very interested in growing it myself, to use for sinus issues. I tried a could times, but I didnt use a specialized enough potting soil mix and the roots rotted in winter. It needs to be really dry in winter, it seems. And loves the heat in summer.

My wife has some seriously annoying issues when she has a sinus infection since she normally breaths only through one nostril. Does ephedra help with that, and if it does how to prepare it?

If Sudafed helps (or similar ephedrine-based sinus pharmaceuticals), then ephedra would as well. Make a tea from the herb to ingest. I dont think you can easily buy dried Ma Huang, but you can grow it. Mormon Tea, which is related and easily available, is not even remotely comparable in medicinal value.

If you cannot locate this herb you should try Brigham or Mormon Tea: Ephedra nevadensis. It is a much more mild version that grows in the deserts of the American West. I have had good success with it for a variety of sinus and bronchial issues.

Strangely enough, I get less result when I try to use too large of a dose. I typically use 15 to 20 drops of tincture that I make.
