I just planted some very recently, it seems to be doing best on a rotting stump, in full sun.
ere's what I've read it's useful for:
Seeds:
cleanser (saponins are probably also responsible for some medicinal properties)
aphordesiac
thickener/humectant
hot beverage
hilbeh dip (Yemeni dish): most of the saponins removed in processing
Leaves:
herb, especially for Indian flatbread
hay
dried & ground, insect repellent in stored grain
