I need to convert an 8x8 walk in cooler to a freezer, any ideas?

Howdy folks. I've garnered access to an 8x8 cooler as part of a large office trailer. I need to convert it to a freezer if at all possible. Does anyone have an insight on how to make that happen?

Depending on the brand of the cooling equipment you should be able to purchase or reprogram the thermostat to a lower setting. You could also looking into something along the lines of a "CoolBot" that is designed to attach to the controls on a conventional cooler and trick it into running at a much lower temp.

I am familiar with the coolbot. It's my understanding that it does not do well at below freezing temps though?

Check the mfg you will more than likely be able to get a new thermostat or if you are lucky you will already have a programmable one. It depends on what you have already. I know many comercial units come from the factory already set up to be either or. Check your specs and get back to us.

One other thing to look into is the door jamb where the gasket seals. In our unit which was setup as a fridge/freezer with a partition/door inside between the two (enter fridge to access freezer) and two separate cooling units; the interior freezer door has a heated door frame to prevent the door freezing shut. It may not be an issue for a freezer with an exterior door?
I never setup the original cooling unit or the heated gasket, since it is all fridge. We went with a CoolBot, and yes they struggle at low, close to freezing temps and I don't think they work as a freezer.
