Have you been looking for an online permaculture design course with expert instruction that you can afford? For the next 5 days, you can get access to a complete 72 hour permaculture design course via streaming with Permaculture Institute founder Scott Pittman for $125. That's equivalent to about 35 DVDs.

Let me explain...

I am happy to share that we at Organic Life Guru just finished filming the live permaculture design course in Costa Rica and we are SUPER excited to bring it to you where ever you are in the world! We are running a Kickstarter campaign to help cover the production costs of the final product, and that is where you come in.

If in the next 5 days, you back this project on Kickstarter for $125, you will get full access to this course for a fraction of the future retail price.

Also, if online streaming isn't your thing, we will ship a thumb drive/external hard drive with the entire 72 hour course on it to your door anywhere in the world for $300.

Click this link to back this project on Kickstarter and choose your incentive: http://kck.st/LNW6ar

Thank You!

Hello -

Do participants in the online course participate in an interactive fashion with the instructors? That is, does the course include the requirement of student design work which is analyzed or critiqued by the course instructors? Or is the course simply video captures of a 'real world' course which is presented as non-interactive video. I'm interested in the course, but this point of interactivity to me is crucial and I wasn't sure from the information provided what level of online interactivity will be present in the course.

Thank you very much,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for you interest. This course is the live capture of a fantastic, interactive permaculture design course. You benefit from all the interaction between the students and instructors during the live course; all the student/instructor conversation is captured on video. Because the online course does not include certification, we can offer the course at a very affordable price. All the content, knowledge, and hands-on instruction of a live certificate course is there.

Permaculture Design Certification Courses typically cost between $1000 and $2000. The future retail cost of the online version of this course will be less than that. Right now, you can get the online course for $125 by supporting the Kickstarter campaign.

The online version of this course does not offer the opportunity to interact with the instructor nor is their an opportunity for the instructor to critique student design work. However, the complete design process during the live course is captured on video and is available as a learning opportunity.

Scott Pittman is graciously offering a discount to those who take the online course; he is offering any live Permaculture Institute PDC for cost to those who take the online course.

Think of this course as a learn-from-home, self-study gateway into the world of permaculture design. If attending a live certificate course is an unaffordable goal right now, you may find this course valuable as a way to prepare for a live certificate course in order to get the most out of it.

Thanks again for your interest. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Sam

I signed up for the $125 level - with my crazy work schedule & maintaining gardens in two locations, online courses work best for me. I got a lot out of geoff lawton's course last year & am interested to see how I can augment what I picked up there.
Cool idea!

Thanks so much for your support on the Kickstarter Ta!

I know what you mean about being crazy busy and leaning towards online courses! That's exactly the situation we built Organic Life Guru for.

I also liked what you said about augmenting what you've already learned. An integrated approach to learning makes a lot of sense. I was talking with a friend the other day who took 3 PDC's and he was discussing how really different they all were.

We're getting close to our Kickstarter deadline ... this SAT at 8:00pm. Currently we are only 12% funded.

Do you have any ideas of what we could add as an offer in our Kickstarter incentives to encourage backers?

Only 34 hours left to get the online permaculture design course for $125 when you back the final production of the project on Kickstarter at that pledge amount. We have 100 hours of permaculture design course content in need of editing. The Kickstarter is to help with all that "post-production." The live event was a great success, and this Kickstarter is there to bring this online permaculture design course to the public and offer backers a big discount for their support.

At this point it seems we need some high dollar investors in the Kickstarter and/or a large swell of backers at the lower levels to fund the project. Kickstarter is an all or nothing thing. You have to reach your goal to get the funding. Right now we are sitting at 14% funding. It would be a sprint to the finish (SAT night 8:00pm). I'm not giving up even though the challenge is great!

Thanks for reading this thread, and if you've decided to get the course at a discount via a pledge on Kickstarter, thanks for your support!

We did not reach our Kickstarter goal, and therefore got no funding. I would however like to thank all the well-wishers & backers who pledged on the project. Your support and encouragement was greatly appreciated.

The course will still be produced! You can sign up to be notified when it goes live here: http://organiclifeguru.com/pdc

We may run another Kickstarter or IdieGoGo crowd-funding campaign to fund the post production of the online permaculture design course. We'll let you know on this thread.

You can contact us here if you have any questions or would like to connect regarding this project.

Thank you,

Chris & Sam

After a little more than a full year of video editing, this online video based permaculture design course is live: http://organiclifeguru.com/course/permaculture-design-course/

Course Info and Outline

Permaculture is an ecological design system. It is an approach to finding solutions for sustainability in all our undertakings – a way of looking at such questions as “How do I build an ecologically sound home?”, “How do I decrease my own ecological footprint?”, “How do I direct my money to do good work that restores communities and local economy?”, “How do I grow my own food and create life-affirming conditions for other living things, instead of relying on commercial food supply and all its vices?” – to name a few. Permaculture teaches us how to design natural homes, how to create abundant gardens, plant food forests, how to include backyard animals, how to build biodiversity to protect wildlife, regenerate degraded landscapes and ecosystems, harvest rainwater, develop ethical economies and communities, and much more. As an ecological design system, permaculture focuses on the interconnections between things more than individual parts. Permaculture relies on ethics, design methodology and numerous design principles.

Topics covered in Permaculture Design Course:

• Principles of Natural Systems

• Sustainable Design Methodologies

• Patterns in Nature, Culture and Society

• Reading the Land & Understanding Natural Processes

• Large Scale Land Restoration Techniques

Water Harvesting Techniques

• Design Principles of Sustainable Human Settlements

• Grey Water Recycling

• Natural Building Strategies

• Cultivated & Productive Ecologies

• Food Forests, Plant Guilds, Gardens for Self-Sufficiency

Energy Conservation Technologies

• Appropriate Technologies and Renewable Energies

• Urban Environment Permaculture

• Wildlife Management and Biological Pest Control

• Land Arts and Community Activism

• Invisible Structures: EcoVillages & Credit Unions

• Community Supported Agriculture

This course was created from the Permaculture Institute’s Permaculture Design Certificate Course. The live course was filmed at a permaculture farm and retreat center just outside San Isidro General, Costa Rica in February 2014.
