Someone here probably knows whats going on, so I am asking ,not to contend the administrative decisions, but for clarity.

OK. I finally got around to making a signature, only to have It removed because it had a link to the forum that Donkey runs and a link to where I had shared a Rocket Mass Heaters-Superefficient Woodstoves YOU_Can_Build.pdf.

Now my copy has been flagged and made inaccessible to me by Google.
The link to was removed by a request to a moderator relayed to her by Paul from someone unknown to me and the link to Donkeys forum was removed by another moderator who stated that it hosted pirated material.

OK... the text of the pdf stated that it was published with the intent that it be shared freely.
I am not sure what pirated content is at Donkeys forum.

I have made some discreet inquiries, to no effect, so any help would be appreciated.

As far as I've been able to find out so far, the text was free to publish but not the pictures. I'm assuming (but can't now check) that the link was to a download that contained the pictures as well as the text.

I'll try to get Paul to clarify, but he's kinda busy and hasn't responded yet.

The text of the book is NOT copyrighted, but all of the illustrations are (C).

The text may be freely shared, but not the illustrations.

Ah, thank you. I see my mistake.
I downloaded it whole from a non-illicit source, not realising that detail.
I surmise they didn't realize either, perhaps the new edition spurred some renewed scrutiny of the content sharing practices.
Thank you for taking the time to educating me.

While the text would be useful to many users, the lack of illustrations would render the book somewhat useless. I think that you are probably correct - the new edition sales would be greatly hurt if the 2nd Ed was freely available to everybody.

Perhaps somebody with a legitimate copy of the PDF book could edit out the illustrations, and post the (then legal) edited version. Even without the illustrations, the book would be educational, if not complete. This could actually spur sales of the legitimate copies, as serious builders would see the value of purchasing it.

If you are using a wood chipper, you are doing it wrong. Even on this tiny ad:
