The idea of using gabion cages filled with rocks to make steps to slow the water down is priceless. It is like a spillway.

This stops erosion and help to provide more water to the area thus greening the desert.

Landowners could use what they have available to make brush/rock dams to continue this idea.

It's neat to see the way the gabions have made sand dams in the canyons and the water still flowing through....
