The chipper would only speed the natural process, and if you've got the room and don't mind the appearance, the natural rotting is my choice. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a chipper/shredder, but I can't justify the expense to merely hurry things along. If space were at a premium, that'd be a different story...
